Default Escort Laser Shifter

Got nailed 4 years ago by laser gun and bought this ECM. Was not sure it worked till this past weekend driving thur Vermont. Troopers were all using Laser in Vermont. They were parked deep in woods and standing behind big tree, only stepping out to fire Laser beam down low at front of car/plate. One had me dead to rignts on RT. 9 passing 3 logging trucks at bottom of long hill. Escort Laser shifter alarm and device went off and I slammed on the brakes. He only had confused look on his face when I went by. I was Lasered 5 times in VT last weekend. V1 laser alarm only fired 1 time out of 5 incendents, due to laser beam being well targeted down low by troopers. It was the shifting of the signal back to their guns that saved my wallet and lisence.

I have my X50 low in the windshield, Cops love their laser gun here, it like playing Duckhunt.
Do you have you V1 high or low on the windshield?

good save on the shifter

V1 is newest version. I have 2 others in slower cars. V1 is mounted high in left cornor of windshild. Still pinching myself over the save. Like I said I've had shifter for 4 years without knowing if it worked.

V1 is best for radar and if you only have $400+ to spend, it is the better buy. Escort Laser shifter is a permently mounted system that runs $500+ and only provieds Laser detection and shifting.

i thikn im going to ask the cops around here what they use, laser vs radar.

does the v1 give any notice of laser worth while or are you pretty much doomed?

ive seen the escorts going for 350 on interwebz sites new, so either is a possibility.

thanks

Nice post, I am a little confused though.

Is a laser shifter the same thing as a laser jammer?

Is your model the ZR3?

Model is the ZR3 Laser shifter. Escort likes to use the words shifting vs. jamming. Like I've said before I did not even know it worked till last weekend after owning it for 4 years.
When V1 sounds Laser alarm its usually too late. Any laser alarm is usually too late unless you are somehow messing up the return laser beam. If you want to go fast its time to get som track time. 15 traps on one weekend trip. One of those ticktets would have funded 1-2 days at any track in east.

Not exactly. You can pick up laser scatter in some cases. I've had this happen several times with my V1. However, if you're getting hit directly and the cop knows what he's doing the V1's laser detection probably won't help much.

That's why you always need to use a rabbit.

As for the laser jammers, the ZR3 and ZR4 don't seem to be the best out there but they are better than nothing and Escort is probably the least shady of the manufacturers. There should be some new tests of the various options pretty soon that should help if you're looking to buy.

is this the zr3 jammer we are talking about?

which is the best thing to get then?
v1 or zr3?

are they both legal? will cops get pi55sed if they cant read you?
They're two entirely different things. One's a radar/laser detector. The other's a laser jammer. There's no universal best. If the cops in your area use radar then a laser jammer is pretty pointless and vice versa.

The V1 doesn't jam anything. As for the laser jammer you should allow them to do their thing, slow down when you hear the alarm and shut them off. The point isn't to constantly jam.

ZR4 looks to be $449:

Check out the radar and laser forum sites and take people's "facts" with a grain of salt.
