Did you make that mount? Can you take more pictures of the mount?

I bought an 8500 back in '02 when I got my AP1. I really liked it, but have upgraded 4 times since then (2 V1's, 9500i, and 9500ix). I don't know when Escort quit making the 8500, but they do still make the 8500 X50.

What do you mean? Are you saying the power cord falls out, or that it falls off the windshield bracket? Mine had an issue with falling off the bracket (always at the worst time), but I solved that by creating a slight bend in the bracket. I created a slight V in the bracket that made the notches a little more "grabby", and hooked on the button better.

Actually, the problem I had with my 9500ix falling off was due to a defective radar detector, not a problem with the bracket. The spring button that you press to release the radar detector from the bracket had a weak spring, so it would sometimes just slide off the bracket when I hit the gas. I could have sent it back for repair, but I instead modified the bracket to compensate for the weak spring. I had to bend the bracket to make the notches protrude more toward the spring button so that it would catch better.

Does the cord from the radar hang in front of your face the whole time? or does it have an internal battery?

With a mount like this, you would hard wire the detector by running the cord inside the A-pi;llar trim next to the windshield.
