Default "factory" alarm not working? 2003 S2000 "new to me"

I've searched on-line and checked the thick owners manual, but haven't found answers...

I bought a 2003 a few weeks ago. BLAQ&GREYs2k can vouch for me.
I think it has a honda Alarm because the Keyfob "PANIC" button works (car honks).

But the alarm doesn't go off when I reach inside and unlock and open either door.
I can't find a valet button under the dash. I can't find a blinking LED. Do I have the optional ALARM or not???

1) Can a 2003 S2000 have a functional PANIC button without an Alarm installed???
2) Where can I look to confirm it has a honda alarm? There's nothing under the seats (took them out recently to replace TOP).
3) If it has an alarm, it must be stuck in "Valet mode" ???? is there a keyfob sequence to get it out of Valet mode??? Where else could the switch and LED be???

If I can get the factory alarm activated I plan on using Diodes to add DEI proximitry and tilt sensors, but I gotta get the door alarm working first!
Thanks in advance for any help. PM me if you want to keep secrets.

Bump.... so no one knows about differences among 2003 factory keyfobs with/without alarm?
Seems like it has something to do with having "H" versus "HONDA" molded into the keyfob?

Looks like I need an S2000 Alarm installation expert in Raleigh area.
PM me if you have any information.

Thanks !

I believe all key fobs have a panic button, certainly my non-alarm 2001 does.
on the back of fob:
P/N SET: 35011-KA.Tx:72147-KA

Mike, I would just have sound station and security or similar reputable shop put in a new alarm system. Much easier than trying to improve something that was never meant to be what you are going for. I would get the proximity sensor for that nice new top, tilt sensor for your wheels, and the typical shock sensor.

This will give you a much larger peace of mind with this new top you installed. I recommend sound station and security
