Default Finally 7440 Turn Signal Silvered Bulbs

Don't know if this is the right forum for this but it is electronic.

Thought this might be of interest to the group.

I've been waiting for true silvered bulbs to finally come out that fit our 7440 wedge turn signal bulbs. Seems that if they can get enough interest by April 1 they will release in April. These are truly amazing "stealth" bulbs for those interested in bulbs to use in clearing your corners.

I have no financial interest in this company. Just think they have a great product that could be of interest to the group. Seems the RX8club.com is all over this introductory offer.

Pre-Order price of $29.95 a pair + shipping is a rip off. A small can of silver paint is a buck or two, it can be used to paint many many bulbs.
Spay a couple very thin coats of silver paint over the bulb, the result will be just like the stealbulb. If you make any mistake in painting the bulb, the paint can be easily removed with paint thinner.

I think those are very expensive.

I use these amber bulbs that have been electroplated. I have no affiliation with this person.

TR-S2k,
Yes. they are expensive. No doubt about it.

I have self-painted bulbs on the car now. I made last year using wing1man's approach. I just haven't been able to get a really good, bright, amber light out of them as only 1/3 of the bulb is unpainted and it restricts the output. Don't get me wrong, they do put out some amber light. Just not enough for my needs.

Perhaps you've had better luck with this then I when you did yours using this approach. What was your trick?

Ubetit,

Looks interesting. What does the "... custom made plastic base. Will substitute the original bulb" mean? Is there some kind of converter that's necessary to get the bulb to fit and seed properly?

Oh, just received a note from the Stealth Bulb people saying that there is a "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee" on their bulbs.

Lesson learned ... if I ever swap out my MY03 for a newer model, the bulbs are definitely coming with me.

The Polarg's "silvered" bulbs have been available for a long time at GotoGiga:

This is both the 7440's and 194's.

True the Polarg bulbs have been around for awhile. I actually bought a pair last year for my parking lights.

Problem is they are not really silver. Yes, they have a bit of a reflective coating but that coating is called somthing like "prismatic yellow". When the sun hits them or you take a picture of the front of your car with a flash, they come out orangeish-yellow. Here's a pic I took of them before installing. Their price was not that much less then the "stealth bulb".

Net-Net: these Polargs are not a true silver bulb IMO.

Ahh, I see our point. They aren't *true* silver.
