Steve, I have this thing. I am sure you saw it because Max was busting my balls about it. I had a tough time getting the oem one out. You have to use a small screwdriver, get the tab on one side started and wiggle the relay enough so it doesnt go back in, while at the same time, release the other one. Good luck, beer and the Holy hand grenade of Antioch will help.

I noticed that a few street bikers had tail lights that blink several times when they first apply the brakes and then go solid. It is an aftermarket mod for them. Is that something we could do, I am not very proficient in designing my own electronics.

This "mod" first showed up about 10-15 years ago and have been available for bikes and cars. It is an add on module. Sorry, can't remember the details too well. The frequency was designed to attract the most attention from other motorists.

If anybody knows where to get a module that will work on our cars, let me know. I searched around and can't find one.

You might look into the products from Cadent Motorsports. I have no experience with them, but according to their web site the SmartFlash module puts the blink rate of the turn signals under your control, and it has an optional brake light modulator to flash the lights before going steady.

The SmartSwitch module to cut off the air conditioner compressor when accelerating looks interesting, too.

I read somewhere on this forum that our cars already have this feature under certain conditions of acceleration.

I don't know if it does have a compressor cut-off or not, but the signal for the compressor clutch relay DOES go through the ECM before it goes to the clutch, and I can't think of any other reason for it to do so, except a cut-off function. Should be easy to check.
