Hey everybody,
Just bought an awesome 2003 white and tan S2000- loving it.

The single CD player is a pain....didn't want to pay $600 for the factory changer.
I actually would prefer a 10-12 disc changer. I've had a Sony 10 disc in my Miata for 9 years and it's great- was able to plug it into the DIN plug using an adaptor.

I'd like to keep the Honda's stock head unit.
Does anyone have any experience with using a FM Modulator in a S2000? I understand that the quality is similar to the radio, which I honestly don't think is that much worse than the S2000's CD player. Just how bad is the sound with the FM Modulated unit?

From my understanding, the S2000 doesn't have a DIN plug? Any way to directly connect a changer (other than the Alpine) to the S2000? I don't mind using a remote to control the changer.

Also, has anyone been able to fit a 10 disc changer under the driver or passenger seat?

I currently use a Sony 10 disc changer mounted in the trunk on the driver's side shelf. I'm using the supplied FM regurgitator. It works just fine. Just program the changer so it dials up the signal strength to more or less match the volume of the CD when played in the stock head unit. You can just see a piece of the changer controller stuck to the edge of my console in this pic:

 

I'd say avoid the FM mod because of the signal to noise ratio.

If you can go MP3 instead I'd say go for a sony deck and use the DCI dash controller we sell.

 

If you're content with the music quality you hear when you've tuned in your clearest station, that's what you can expect from an FM modulator. It will never be CD quality due to all of this going through the mixdown stages of the FM tuner, but it will easily be as clear as your best station.

 

While FM modulators are tolerable, they are not ideal. One of the things I don't like about them is that they attenuate the signal level of other FM stations unless they are turned off.

Exactly. IMO, it's not bad at all and worth the $$ to try for yourself. I gave the Soundfeeder SF100 (?) to my roomate on his birthday and installed it for him as well. His car is all stock (Not an S2k) and the sound is as good as the clearest FM channel that you'd get. I got it from best buy. I'd suggest getting the battery operated one and not the one that plugs into the ligher outlet since that introuduces noise.

I tried an FM modulator from iRock with my iPod MP3 player and the stock headunit. It sounded somewhat worse than good FM reception. Now I have hooked up a hardwired input to a new headunit, and the iPod sounds much much better than good FM reception.

Anyone want to buy the iRock FM modulator, cheap?
