xviper, the part itself will be able to handle whatever heat the fog light puts out, as far as construction materials go. There is a hole on the top left (LHS) and top right (RHS) portion of the bumper, as well as vents on the splash guard which will direct air into and behind the fog light assembly. There should be enough convective cooling to keep the temps down. I've only had them on a day so far, so it'll take a little time to see the long term heat effects.. I'm not anticipating any problems. Hopefully the bumper doesn't melt off!
s2kv, It'd be rough to make something fit and look good on the AP2 bumper.. that air vent's too convenient on AP1s! Anyone wanna volunteer their AP2 bumper for a couple weeks?
Thanks for the compliments guys.. I appreciate it! I'll have to look into what it'd take to make more of these, but quicker. The first set took for-frickin-ever!
I've been toying with using the factory fog lights (turned 90 degrees from the picture as the shape looks about right) from a 2002-2003 Toyota RAV4 that ideally would mount in the AP2 faux vents (and cut the bumper to fit), but I haven gotten very far.......
What I want to know is why Honda just doesn't sell these cars with fogs in those (fake) vents, so we don't have to go through all this ourselves (hell, they could even design it so that the brakes would get vented). Sheesh. HPH
