Default front components

i have a 2001 nfr. i replaced the fronts with components about 10 months ago. they are wired up to an amp and i have an after market head unit. recently my drivers side tweeter and speaker started breaking up. when i turn the volume up it goes back to normal. i pulled the door panel of to see if i had some loose wiring but everything looked fine. oddly enough when i pulled the panel off it started working fine. does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong? thanks

Are you using the crossover that came with the component set?

Sounds like a wiring issue... however your gonna have to look real hard You can also test the amp by switching the wires so the drivers side and the passenger side wires are swaped(do this on the amp). Takes 5 minutes and can help eliminate the amp and other problems...

But I would think its just bad wiring somewhere...

see thats what i thought too. that is why i pulled the door apart and looked very closely. it sounds even more convincing because the problem stopped when i pulled the panel off. unfortunately i could not find anything wrong with the wiring. i am going to pull it all apart again today and check. i will also check the amp.

Let narrow it down, swap the wiring in the back on the amp. Just switch the wire so the drivers door wiring becomes the passenger side and vis-versa. That will prove its in the door wiring.
Now if that be the case they must be a short int he wiring somewhere... and you'll have to find the cut in the wiring thats shorting against the metal of the car... this will not be fun

alright not good. i swapped the wiring and the problem switched from drivers door to passenger. that must mean i have a problem within the amp right? i connected the wiring together and bridged it and both are working fine now. Now what......is my amp bad or where should i go from here?

maybe... It could be a loose RCA on the back of the HU. Switch the RCA now from one side to the other on the amp.

I would bet on that channel on the amp being on it's way out. Its not THAT uncommon.
