Functional DCI but no sound
I connected the Honda harness to the adapter harness that came with the DCI. I then connected all of the DCI wires accordingly (including SCV, but not the mute). I set the swithes such that only 4 and 5 are down (ON). I then started connecting the harness adapter wires to the Pioneer harness wires. The only wires that weren't connected on the harness adapter were the rear left and right speakers, as well as the power attenna wire. I ran the wires from the rear speakers I installed directly to the Pioneer harness (the front speaker wires on the Pioneer harness are connected to the harness adapter). The only wires not connected on the Pioneer harness are the System Remote Control (blue/white) and the Mute (yellow/black). I used 18-22 gauge butt splices for all connections.
I plugged the antenna, Pioneer harness and DCI plug into the head unit and turned on the car. The radio powers up and is completely functional. All of the dash controls work (including the various button combinations). The only problem is that I get no sound while on AM, FM or CD/MP3 ... not even static.
All four speakers are Rock Fosgates, and I double checked the (+) and (-) leads on all of them to make sure they were correct. I used aftermarket wiring for the rear speakers; I just cut the Honda front speaker wires right below the OEM connector and used the original wires for the front speakers.
Have already checked the radio fuse and it is intact.
Any ideas?

some ideas:
- confirm that the mute wire into the headunit was not
accidentally hooked up to something
- if there's a mute button on the headunit, toggle it on and off
- check whether it's possible on the headunit to turn off the
internal amp, and then make sure it's on

Double checked the mute wires and both (from the DCI and from the HU) are tied back properly.
There is no mute button the HU, but there is one on the remote that comes with it (though I don't have it with me ... it's 4 hours away).
Have looked for a way to toggle the internal amp, but I don't think it's possible on this model.

I guess one thing you could do is get a mutimeter and test for any voltage going across the (+) and (-) speaker terminals on the back of the head unit. This way you could find out if the internal amp is broken.
I don't have a multimeter available; however, I didn't notice the first time around that each attempt to turn the radio on gives momentary crackle from the speakers, then silence.
another thought - if you have a short somewhere (in one of the
speakers or the wiring to it), the headunit may go into a protection
mode, shutting off the amp. buying a cheap multimeter from
radio shack/home depot etc would really help diagnosing it.

Picked up a cheap multimeter and found the short in the rear speakers that I installed, so I just used some electrical tape to cover the part of the frame that was making contact with the magnet and terminal ... works perfectly now
The DCI w/ SCV works perfectly, and the HU didn't need any additional work to fit in the dash smoothly. Also, was able to run the iPod cable easily (found it's cheaper to run a mini-jack to mini-jack cable, then just recharge the iPod in the house). Christmas installation pics of everything will be up within a day or so
