Default Garmin Nuvi 650 ?

Costco has a really good deal on the Nuiv 650 ($300) so I emailed the link to a buddy of mine since we are both searching for a GPS. He said he preferred the Magellans to Garmin because the Garmin can't accept just a zip code as a destination? Is that true? That would be annoying.

I saw the deal on fatwallet.com. I checked back today and it appears the 650 is sold out at costco. The deal was 450 - 150 coupon = 300.

The Costco add references future availability. I believe it was Nov 17.

I'm not sure about the 650 but I just got a free map update for my 660. Prior to this I could not use zip codes but I can now. Makes life a lot easier when traveling in Montreal.

WTF?! Nuvi 650 for $300? I just got it about a month ago for $600!

Anyway, you can NOT enter in just a zip code for directions. In any of the search functions, you do not need to know a zip code. There are a few things you CAN do:
1. Enter a full address (obviously)
2. Enter a city (you must know the state)
3. Enter an intersection (two streets, and you must know state)
4. You're able to search Points of Interest (POIs) and the 650 and 660 has approximately 6 million of them. If you know the full or partial spelling of the place, it will find it. If you know the state/city, it will take a SIGNIFICANTLY shorter time to find it. If you only know very basic info, it might take up to 5 minutes to find a restaurant.
