Good fronts or decent fronts & rears?
Sorry if this is has been asked many times before, but as everyone else around here is doing, I'm planning to upgrade my audio system during spring break. What would you guys recommend I get if I want a good clean sound in my car. Would it be better to get something good for the fronts on my MY03, such as mb quartz or kappas and have a amp power them, or would it be better for me to have the front rear set up powered from the HU. I'm also going to get a sub, which will be powered by a amp either way. Only problem is I'm on a bit of a budget for now since I'm finishing school this spring.
Oh, after much debate, I will probably not go with the S-pods for the rears, a bit too costly for me right now, maybe later on down the road. So the rears will be with Lucid's setup.
So bascially my choices are:
a) Quality fronts with a 3 channel amp setup (4 channel amp with last two channels bridged) with a 8" sealed enclosure. Oh, and If I go this route, is it hard to drop in the tweeters into a MY03? Would I have to do any modification to the door panels or simply use an adaptor for it?
b) Decent fronts & rears(lucid's setup) powered by HU with the 8" sealed enclosure powered by a mono amp.
Oh, I'll be using my HU from my other car which is a pioneer, 3 pairs RCA at 4 volts and it was 60watts x4 I believe. Well thx for any advice you guys can give me.

Nothing wrong with upgrading in stages, this stuff is expensive! I'd start with at least decent fronts, then add equipment as your budget allows. I personally like the rear fill rears add, wheather or not I get a sale from it.
Just keep in mind your ultimate goal, i.e. how many outputs your amp will need, how much power, etc....and enjoy each improvement.
You can always cut your own rear panels, and replace them cheaply later...this way you can make a major improvement for $300-$400. Just make sure you won't have to re-buy components later. Whatever you get should fit into your "ultimate" plan.

Thx Mark, after some consideration and finding some post on the matter I think I'll go with plan A. As you said, I'm keeping the ultimate plan in mind which would be to have two amps running, one for the 6'5 and the 5'1/4" and
another one for the Sub.
The spods have great reviews so probably around fall I'll get those as I'm sort of tall and don't want my seat to be leaning on the speakers. Might as well go in stages and get the best bang for the buck I suppose. Now all I have to worry about is choosing the right sub and amps for my car

Thats how I know mark is a good man.....he sells rear SPODS and didnt push them to you....
Mark!
Anyway, yea, get really good fronts and a headunit. Headunit is paramount, as well as great components. They are the heart of most systems. (actually, brain) Then sub/sub amp. Then you grab some of dis here SPODS and youll have one rootin tootin system partna!

So now that I've gone with option A, I just place a order for the infinity perfect 6.1 which will be powered by a fosgate amp. Power rating is at 65 watts rms per channel. For now I'll 3 way that amp to power my sub (still to be determined) And as for the head unit, I'll be using my old pioneer deh 8 series. Forgot the exact model number for that, either its 8200 or 8500. Hopefully everything will come by the time I have spring break so I'll have time to install all these goodies. Oh, would any of you guys know if I need a adaptor for the infinity 6.5"?
Oh yea, thx for the recommendations NFRs, hopefully they'll sound great.

really, I though that the RF's were under rated so I'd have some room to play with. I'll try contacting them and try to exchange the 501x for the soundstream ega4220 instead. Thx for the input.
The adaptors have been canceled, and I'm switching from RF to sound stream for the amps. These will run at 110 watts rms. I hope thats enuf breathing room for the infinity. Let me know what you guys think.
