Has anyone tried/investigated/done any modification to these panels to add a tweeter? I'm just curious if there is enough space to put one there and if its been done before? Its probably more reasonable to upgrade the door speaker, but it looks like this would be a great place for a tweeter.

best place for a tweeter is closer to your ears.. like the windshield pillars. rick posted photos of his a few months ago.

Check out: http://www.xs4all.nl/~pwb/s2000/

Scan down to bottom for pictures of tweeter location; it's an alternative to the pillar approach.

I don't think that's a good place for the tweeters - you want them both to be in "line-of-sight", otherwise you will not hear both channels (or at least the one pointing away from you will sound much lower)

I have found that the direct aiming of tweeters towards your head provide an extremely "bright' image... especially if you have metal (titanium) dome tweeter diaphrams. That's why I put mine where I did:

However, pillar mounting is MUCH easier (if you mount them there, you might just have to choose the lower db setting on your crossover)

The Pillars are cheap but has some problems. Ideally you want the tweater near the main speaker. The very best place is higher in the door or in front of the door lock. It avoids your knee, stays near the main speakers, and can be directed somewhat towards your head. The only problem is that it is expensive to return to stock.

My total modification of the dash (with midrange and tweeter in the dash) which provides a fabulous image is surprisingly cheap to return to stock... I just purchased a new dash: get this, $350.00 !! That's one of the cheapest dashes I have ever purchased (and I have bought ALOT of dashboards)

shaner, what all is in-volved in putting a new dash in the car? Is it easier than I'm thinking it is? I'm trying to decide wether to push my dealer to waranty me a new dash because of some imperfections, just worried about it not being as good as from the factory. You know rattles and stuff.
