Default Got a Escort 8500 x50

so far not but testing time had it 1 day no cop alerts, but it falsed almost as much as the 20$ cheapo detector i had before.... it was sad i dont know how good it is with cops yet but definitely good at detecting safeways, i had it on autosense maybe i should try city? so for the one day ive had it not up to expectation although hopefully in the future it will save my ass =)

the reviews i read about escort were mostly good and it was good at false filtering but it falses alot

Good info. I saw the 8500 x50 at Best Buy and I was considering getting one. It seemed rather heavy.

I have the X50 and it falses far less than the 8500 did. In fact, my friend has the 8500, and during the SESM, his was going off all the time. Mine went off once during the entire trip.

You may live in an area with a lot of radar signals, or maybe there is something wrong with your X50. You can also adjust it so that you can block out the X-band or turn off city mode to lessen false alerts.

I love the X50. It has better range, picks up less false alerts and detects radar better than the 8500 I owned prior (and my friend owns).

What does it being "heavy" have to do with performance? I've never had a problem because it's heavier than other radar detectors. It could be the fact that it has superior components compared to "el cheapo" radar detectors.

I have found that my Proximity sensor for my alarm sets off the k band on my 8500 AND on my 8500 x50.

I have been meaning to rewire the prox so there is no power to it when the car is running, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

i dont get many false x bands but alot of K band, no Ka Falses
but during the course of the day about 2-3 hours of driving in city, not downtown but more like suburbs with markets it falses quite a bit

for thoser of you who know it is the 99 highway by lynnwood and alderwood mall, many falses much more than i expected
maybe soemthing it wrong?

so far it hasnt run the self calibration test, i thought it was supposed to do that once in a while but not sure

i hope nothing is wrong... any way i would check if something is wrong?

You're probably right. The weight was a bit of a surprise is all. Just a pointless observation. Nothing that would affect my decision to purchase the unit.

I had that problem with a prox. sensor too... nothing a $2 relay can't fix! I guess yours isn't as annoying as mine or you wouldn't have waited to fix it. Mine went off constantly!

Anyone know how the X50 compares with the V1? I need to get another detector - don't want to keep moving the V1 from car to car.

I've had the X50 for a few days now and I don't get many false alerts. Granted, I haven't been driving through very many heavily populated areas with stores (automatic doors that run on K band). I have yet to actually run into a cop using his radar though so it's been farely quiet so far.
