GPS updates?
Hey guys,
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 360 a couple months ago and quickly downloaded their free 2009 map upgrade, but there are still several highways that aren't in the new upgrade. Highway 74 in NC has been like this for at least six months, but it completely screwed with the Garmin. Constantly "recalculating"!!!
Anyway, how often do GPS companies come out with map updates? Specifically Garmin. Can I buy another upgrade from somewhere else that would be more up to date or do I have to just wait

i believe every year they release the "update." and you have to use the each company's own update.
garmin is not that expensive. amazon has them for $50 where as most charge up to 200 for the DVD.

I work at best buy in the GPS dept actually haha. Well on Garmin's updates (unfortunately like every company) you will only be able to get updates about once a year. For the most part 2009 maps from Garmin are going to be the same until they release 2010 maps next Oct/Nov. There is no way to add in the actual street nor will there be updates to be honest until then. Believe me, i know exactly how you feel. If you have any more questions bud just hit me up in an email as i rarely check boards. - Southkhaki19@aol.com
The updates have nothing to do with manufacturers, such as Garmin. Updates are done by NAVTEQ, which is a company that provides all the map information to all the manufacturers.
You can actually email them, tell them your concern, and within about 2-3 months, they will update the maps.
