So i picked up an s2k stock headunit. It rarely plays CD's it keeps bringing up "E-00" message when i put in a cd.

once it actually read the cd... playing fine... i hit any little bump and it stops playing... waits 3 secs. and continues.

If i buy lets say a stock headunit off a 2004 will i have the same stopping problems? or should i buy an aftermarket headunit. thanks.

 

Sounds like its really dirty. Have you tried one of those cleaning CDs in it yet? I bought one for 6 bucks at walmart years ago, and have used it many times in my old Kenwood and Clarion to fix "can't read CD" errors in them. Can't hurt to try.
