Default Head Unit Question

I was wondering what are some good head units that allows me to still use the drivers audio switches to my left? and that fit in the OEM slot and the face plate can still fit? any help is appreciated

You need a Modifry DCI for the dash controls to work with an aftermarket head unit. The DCI works with most brands.

Almost all standard sized HUs will allow the faceplate to be closed (as long as nothing's plugged into the faceplate, like an aux or usb plug).

I will testify for them until the day I die, buy a Pioneer! Ive had the same one for over 5 years, and just upgraded for bluetooth audio streaming. Their units in the 100$ range are awesome. You can set it to any color, full EQ adjusting, sub control settings, and the build quality is superb.

The DCI doesn't have to be Modifry but I'd highly recommend it.

Contact them at their webpage when you decide which unit you want to ask if its compatible and what you should order. He was really helpful when I had some questions about going from Alpine to another brand head unit and already had the DCI for the Alpine.

The best value IMO is this one If you want something cheap, can change color to match dash, pandora, bluetooth audio streaming, front usb, charges ipods/iphones, AND still has a CD player for 130$. Shop around though, crutchfield is the most expensive.

There are various models that are slightly more expensive and keep going up in price, but all have the same features as the one I speak of. Noticed an IMMEDIATE difference once installed my pioneer and replaced it with the sony that it came with. The sound quality was so much better!

Modifry is the brand name Here's the website.

It's basically a little module that you wire in between the head unit and the radio harness. As takeshi said, there are other brands available that will do the job, but I don't know anyone on this board who doesn't love the modifry model.
