Which headunit
Hello. a little help needed. So i want a new headunit for my ap2. Im looking to replace the door speakers also, probley not the door tweeters if i dont need too, but idk. I also have the OEM headrest tweeters and plan on getting the OEM rool bar tweeters. Im just not sure which unit to get in order to assure i dont blow all my tweeters out, if thats possible, and i cant find info about them. I also want to keep my side dash controls so i already know about getting the Modifry wiring harness. Any help on which headunit or speck on the units i should be with-in. Thanks. Doug
I would recomend the JVS KD-AVX77, and as far as after market speakers don't worry about the HU blowing anything out. The average HU runs about 18-28 Watts RMS which will under power most if not all after market speakers. Try to match up an amp and a pair of speakers if you want the best sound out of any speaker.
hey guys. i was offered a Alpine CDA-9851. Looks like a nice headunit and i believe he is also going to give me the modifry side control harness with it. He also has the roll bar speakers i have been looking for. What do you all think of this head unit.?

I had a high output HU and it still wasn't enough even with upgraded front and added rear speakers. When I got a real amp to push sound it was great, even at highway speeds, top down.
Some reviews on Crutchfield for that unit:

and it says it fits. Should be a decent HU to work with (although its been discontinued). Do you plan on usind CD's alot? If not, I really recommend going with an interactive digital model, like the Alpine iDA series (x303 and x305). Same functionality and cheaper since there is no CD drive to manufacture.
