Default Help needed, Alpine 9811 turns off randomly.

I did the wiring on my stero my self and now sometimes when I am dirivn all the sudden, the stereo turns off. Mostly actually when I turn my headlights off. The stero just goes black and when I hit power button it comes back online with no radio stations and sound controlls that I have adjusted. So pretty much it loses current for a split second I guess. Has anyone encountered this before? Its weird and I dont know how to get it fixed.

Check your wiring. Sounds like you have a problem with the "Lights On" wire.

Did you do the direct wire to the battery as specified in the Installation manual? My brother has a 9807 and was too lazy to do the direct battery hookup and his 9807 acts funny like yours does with some skipping sometimes during songs. I however soldered all the connection on my 9815 and did the 10 guage wire to the battery thing and it works great.

Also, did you solder all of your connections?

sounds like a power or ground issue -- where did you make your power and ground connections?

Power, I am not sure I have just matched the colors between the adapter and the head unit harness. I dont have stand alone current from the battery, should of check instructions i guess. My ground is right where the stereo mounts to the chassis of the car. All the wiring is soldered.

sounds like the continuous power feed is dropping out for a few moments.

this one has me a bit baffled... i'll think on it, but i'm not optimistic.

Yeah thats what I thought too, continus power is droppping for a moment and ofcourse since there is no memory left the unit doesnt realize to come back up when the power is there, it defaults all its settings, which also includes "power off" so it doesnt look like it turned off and op in a split second it turns off and stays off until you turn it back on.

this is really a strange one... imo, ask Mac or Modifry. this is a bit too esoteric for me.
