HELP!!!! - Power cables from battery to cabin - how????
Hello all,
I'm installing my computer system in the car today but I'm having terrible problems getting the power cables through the bulkhead to the cabin. I'm using the access port directly behind the battery - but don't seem to be able to make it through ?????
Any try and tested techniques??????

Someone on this forum mentioned using some kind of "lube" on your wire and I was able to run a 4-gauge power cable through the access port that you're referring to. You have to remove the electrical tape around the existing wires and then it should be a piece of cake.
Expanding upon what scooby has already mentioned...
If you're trying to push a wire into the cabin through a grommet that already contains wires, you need to poke through the electrical tape that wraps the wires and grommet together just inside the cabin. I normally do this with a few gentle pushes and twists with a small blade screwdriver.
Next, if the wire is thick enough, you can just push it through on its own. If the wire is too thin, use an industrial size ziptie from home Depot, Lowes, etc. (they're like 2-3 feet long) as a fish. If you need a lube, use something water-based, like KY jelly...do NOT use petroleum-based products, like Vaseline.

I just did this last week...
I had heard about the gromet behind the battery and just how easy it was to access the cabin. When i yanked the battery, i found the sams hassle with the electrical tape... I was half way throuch yanking tape off the split loom when to make room for the wire (4 ga. ) when i noticed that there was another gromet about 6ish (i suck at estimating length... ask my wife...LOL) inches below. Lots o room. at least on mine. You could pull a Buik through there.
(or maybe this is OBVIOUS info... it was my first time poking around back there)
cheers!
