I have finally settled a dispute regarding a speaker purchase gone bad. Since many of you know far more about where to get a good deal on automotive speakers than I, I'd appreciate your advice.

I basicly want an upgraded system, but don't want to spend big bucks, and have allocated under $200 for the speakers. The rest of the system includes the factory head unit driving an MTX 4244 amp (45W/ch x 4) through a low level converter. This 4-channel amp will drive two small 4.5" Infinity Kappa speakers located behind the seat in addition to whatever I get for the door. These rear speakers are just used for sound fill. I had purchased Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components, but would be willing to consider alternatives.

I also need to get a pair of 5x7/4x8 coaxial speakers for my wife's new truck. These will be matched with a pair of BA CRX 87 speakers that I pulled out of her old truck. They will be driven by the factory head unit with no additional amp, so they need to be pretty efficient.

Thanks for any suggestions!

CoralDoc -- what styles of music do you prefer?

my initial recommendations for speakers to fit your power and pricing needs would be
Focal Access 165A : http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12638
http://www.infinitecaraudio.com/cgi-bin/ic...&catalogno=165A

Infinity 6000cs : http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=13349
http://www.infinitecaraudio.com/cgi-bin/ic...logno=REF6000CS

Infinity Kappa 60.4cs : http://www.infinitecaraudio.com/cgi-bin/ic...ogno=KAPPA605CS
you have a little less than optimal power for these however.

not sure what to recommend for your truck.

i've never bought from either of those 'stores' and can only rely on the general positive reviews they have gotten here. my linkage is mostly just to give your street pricing.

also, these recommendations are just general, and not specific to your musical tastes. a good all purpose speaker is the Focal. it suits a number of different styles well.

as always, if possible - go listen and tryout any speakers before buying. you may find that you hate my tastes...
