Take the tray out. It's only about 6-8 clips if I remember correctly.

Would that cause extra wear or damage the top over time?

I have not noticed any wear/rubbing marks on my soft top. I have kept an eye on it as someone with an '00-'01(I believe) said that it rubbed. Maybe it has something to do with the older plastic windows. Don't know, but mine has had zero problems so far.

I thought about taking it out but I worried about thet top going down too far, scratching the plastic window and I read in a thread that it looked awful with it out.

The tray is actually four pieces. Two sides, a bottom, and a trim piece closer to the trunk. You only remove the trim and bottom pieces. The two side pieces keep it from going any further. DO NOT REMOVE THE SIDE PIECES!!!

Not if you've got BLING to show through! Of course, the only time you can actually see in there is when the top is up. I carpeted the entire area that you can see.

Do you think Dynomating the plastic peices would work, b/c the rattle is so annoying I have to turn the music all the way up so I cant hear it. Maybe taking all the peices out and putting dynomat on the bottoms might work??
