Default High level brake light failure "Any Ideas"

Anyone any ideas why the high level brake like should fail : The unit its self is fine, works when powered direct. There doesnt appear to be power to the connection to the lamp unit - Is it on its own fuse !!! Grateful for any assistance you can offer

Did you meter it? Does the car have an aftermarket alarm? is this the 3rd brake light, it not do both brake lights work? What turns on, what doesn't?

at least for US cars, all three brake lights are on the same circuit/fuse -
#47 in the main under-hood (bonnet for those of you east of the Atlantic)
fuse box.
