Im beyond pissed off today......

The new alternator has died already. I was out data logging with my AEM Ecu and noticed the battery light flashing on my spa oil pressure gauge. Then i realised that the alternator had zero output and i was running entirely on my lightweight shorai battery....

I managed to get home and check all the wiring belt etc and its all fine the alternator is just not outputing anything. Im so annoyed its unbelievable. Luckily my battery only got down to 13 volts so i can recharge it and it should be fine but it could of drained that so much that it would be useless if i hadnt of noticed the gauge flickering...

I have emailed BNR and await a reply. I reckon chances are i wont get anything out of them refund wise as they are based in the states and im in the UK...

BNR have replied saying that it sounds like voltage regulator failure. So i went to the effort of swapping the voltage regulators over and rebuilding the alternator and putting it back in only for it to make no difference.

All i hope is that the rectifier out of the BNR alternator will fit one of the worn out knackered OEM ones i have lying around and i can at least get something to work properly.

I have spoken to another alternator company who have basically said the BNR is POS. The smaller pulley means it will spin at least 25000rpm at 9000revs so the centrifugal force will tear the rotor apart along with the copper inside it. Nippon Denso are only rated to 20,000 which is exactly what the honda item spins at when at max revs.

Sort of wished i had of known this earlier but you have to learn the hardway. On the plus side i can stripped down this BNR alternator and stick its regulator on one of my old worn out ones and hopefully i can have it all working again tomorow morning No more expensive either which is the best part.

I am also tired of aftermarket HO alternators, on our sti, the maniac electric lasted 5K miles only, there`s got to be an oem alternator with 20 30 amps more maybe from a automatic mini van honda or something that may bolt one, that`s something to look for...

In the same boat for a HO alternator with oem lifespam and quality
