Red face Hook up subs to stock HU?

I'm not really a big fan of after market radios so i wanna keep my oem radio...i realize that the sound isn't exceptionally vivid however i find that it suits my taste...i have a sub that i wanted to hook it up to in order to have somewhat of a "thump" but i realize i have to run a DCI...can anyone point me in the right direction as to which wires ill need to splice and which wires from the DCI I'm going to need to hook up???...THANKS

I did buy a piggy back type of thing from my local stereo store. It converted the stereo outs to RCA for a subwoofer amp. I had it setup on my old accord and the sound wasn't actually that bad for piggybacking. It cost me around 30 bucks and I used the rear speakers to piggyback from. I don't know if the s2k stock radio has outputs to the back since it only comes with 2 front speakers. Keep us informed if you work something out.

You don't need a DCI-Dash Control Interface-That is a unit to use your dash button with a aftermarket head unit.

You need a line out converter to get the speaker level output of the Head Unit to the amp you plan to use. Since you have not mentioned the amp- I suspect that it only has line level inputs. If it has speaker level inputs...then we are done here.

On the assumption that the amp for your sub need line level I would reccomend this.....
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=267-766

It is very cheap....takes speaker level inputs, has signal gain control, crossover and bass boost. I've used it successfully for a friend for EXACTLY what you are proposing....adding a sub to a stock system on a budget.

You'll need to splice in to the exsisting speaker output wire from the HU in addition to power/Ground/Remote.

Yep, the link that Cubs2k gave is a similar item that I used. It has a little more bells and whistles than what most people need with the crossovers and gain. Id let the amp deal with that stuff

All you need is a step-down. Subs can be hooked up to any stock HU, but requires a step-down. Go to the local stereo shop and pick one up for about $15-$25. It requires wiring, but will allow for an amp to be hooked up, once the amp is hooked up, hook the subs to the amp and you win.

EDIT: Line Output Converter (LOC) = Step-down. I'm still stuck in car audio jargon world.

This works just as well, and only costs $5

Good point.....if the amp you are using has crossovers, a simple LOC will work fine.
