Default Hooking Up Radar Detector

Currently my radar detector is plugged into the 12v outlet via a very long coiled cord.

I'd like to hook it up directly to car's electrical system.

Can anyone help with how-to advice?

Thank you in advance.

That's what I used as a guide to hardwire mine. Don't overlook existing threads here as well.

Did any one else have a hard time getting access to the ground lug mentioned in the link? It's nearly impossible to get to mine so I just ended up grounding it somewhere else.

I did this today and my 08 also had to be grounded elsewhere. But the whole thing took 15 minutes excluding the 30 minutes it took for me to put my visor screw back on. For no reason whatsoever, it was being a pain. Thanks for the link!

I believe the directions were written for an AP1 - maybe AP2s don't have that same ground point
