Default How does a Sub in the trunk really sound?

I've seen a lot about the sub boxes for trunk mount. How do they sound mounted in the trunk as you are in the car? Are they that noticeable? And if so, they must be as loud outside the car as inside.

I'd like to go with at least a 10" as I prefer the sound over an 8", but the space is limited. The one offered from this site looks good, but it seems only for 8's.

-Thanks

A good sub with good power can sound very good. The sound stays in the car pretty well, and the S2000 doesn't rattle too much. I feel that a 10" is the smallest I would try to do...but some people don't like a lot of bass. I know that I wouldn't go without my setup, 10" works great.

If you are using enough power 10's sound great. Even a single 12" works.

Sound great couldn't live without it. I have two eights in a custom fiberglass enclosure. Pretty much the same a a stealth box. Sounds great!

The Polk/Momo enclosures are the best I've heard for this car. Since they are factory built/sealed/tested/tuned you get the best bass.

I think the bass is pretty well directed into the cabin - top up or down.

It is very noticable in the seat, but not nearly as loud if you are standing near the trunk.

I second what Wesmaster said - the S2000 is amazing good when it comes to rattles when compared to some other cars.

I'm running a JL Stealthbox off of two bridged rear channels from my JL 300/4 amp. Fantastic sound. Recommended.

Have one of WLAURENT's subs sitting in my garage. Just waiting to get my car back from the body shop. Will post thoughts later. However, I can't wait to hear it.

Thanks all for your help.

I have ordered the Lucid 10" Offset Custom Subwoofer Enclosure and have have ended up getting a Sony XS-L1036 10" 4-Ohm 700W Sub and powering it with the SONY XM-475GSX 4-CH 800W. I am going to bridge two channels for the sub and run the other two to my Sony 1631 3-ways in the doors. These should sound much better at volume with the amp's crossover, and looking forward to having bass again!
