Default How to put a SUB in my S?

Hey all. I want to get some bass in my S. I hear about a RSX Sub? What is that and how is it mounted? As u all know the S is not busting with space. I'm not looking to go crazy and run a million watts. I just want a clean sub set up so I can have a little thump with my music. If any of u have any ideas on how u have it set up in ur S please let me know. Thanks!!

the RSX sub is a 6.5" Bose woofer and a small amp, all in a package that fits into the cavity of the spare's wheel. As a result, you lose no interior space. To hook one up, I spliced on a set of RCA inputs for preamp level signals. I don't know if it works well on a speaker level input. If you take the cover off the amp, there is a small gain control.

It sounds fine to me. The bass is not boomy, but it added what I wanted to the car. I'm planning on getting a new head unit with low pass preamp outs and higher voltage, that should make the unit louder.

I paid $50 shipped to the door.

if the rsx sub isn't enough for you - put a 10" sub in the middle "hole" in the trunk and relocate the tools to the center of the spare tire. my sub box is made so that that trunk is flush heightwise across the bottom (see attached pic). i can still get my golf clubs, groceries, etc in the trunk when needed...

I disagree with both of the above recommendations.

1) The RSX sub sounds like ass.

2) The sub in the tool well is not the best place to take up the least space.

I'd recommend a WLAURENT enclosure in the side of the car (one or two), or a custom box in the same place with an 8" sub, or even a 10" sub.

That will take up less space and allow you to keep your tool well and spare in the car.

good points nate - but for me i HAD to retain the full width of the trunk - so putting the sub in the middle was my only choice. having a solution that would have to be taken out every time i go to the golf course (which is a lot) was no good...

i'd very much like to hear a sub in the wlaurent enclosure for comparison though.

i also have to agree about the rsx sub. that was the first thing i pulled out of my rsx when i bought it - i couldn't even tell it was even there...but maybe it sounds better in the smaller space of the s2k?

I disagree, the best solution is a sub in the passenger footwell

That may be the BEST, however, it's certainly not the easiest
