Default HU install help

Sup Fellas

I just got the HU and Ipod adapter. I got a few questions...

1. Is it required to ground the HU? Do i just attach the black wire from the radio to the harness??

2. I didnt use a couple of wires which are red, yellow, and black... do i just connect them together?

thanks for your help!!! hope to install it tomorrow and will post pics!

What HU did you use? Just to clarify, when you are talking about those wire colors are those the honda colors or the harness adapter color.

If you mean harness adapter color than black is ground, red is +12 ignition, yellow is +12 constant.

In other words, it sounds like you hooked up the speaker wires, the power antenna wire and amp wire if you are using an amp, maybe even illumination.

However, none of that does any good without power and ground connections.

Anytime you install a DC component it must be grounded, otherwise it won't get any power....

Ok, I just saw that you added a pic. Yes, you did NOT connect any of the + or - power wires, how exactly did you expect the HU to power on??

Whenever a wire has a inline fuse it should be a clear indicater that it's a +12v power wire, and yes it needs to be connected!

Red to Red
Yellow to Yellow
Black to Black

Connect one end to HU.
Connect other end to stock honda plug in the car.

if i connect black to black does that mean it's ground? Because i thought you have to connect it to a bolt or something. I was going to use the golden bolt.

You can connect it there, or just use the stock ground in the stock harness. Up to you. I used the harness without issue.

BTW, the stock harness has a ground in it, so connecting black to black in this case simply uses the same grounding location that the stock HU used. That harness you have plugs into the honda harness, and there's a ground wire in that harness.
