Default Which HUs will fit behind the door?

I just got my new S2000 and want to upgrade the stereo. I must admit I'm not a hardcore audiophile, but I need better than stock. I know the basics of what I want but my real question is in regards to what HUs will fit without losing your ability to close the radio door. I'd really like to run the Alpine iDA-X001.(http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=iDA-X001)

I'm curious to know if anybody else is running that HU in their S2000 and if it fits behind the door. I'd also like to know if it's compatible with Modifry's adapter. If not, does anybody have any recommendations for an Alpine HU that DOES fit and IS compatible with the DCI?

(I searched around, but didn't find anything)

I would boldly say that all single DIN Alpine unit will fit behind the radio door. The Modifry DCI will work with Alpine. I looked at the specs for the iDA-X001 and it does accomodate the "wired DCI" from Modifry. Here's the list of HUs that are compatible with the Modifry DCI:

BTW, I have a Alpine CDA-9857 and it works flawlessly with the wired DCI from Modifry.

Thank you. I've heard some stories of certain HUs not fitting behind the closed radio door. Seeing as how the iDA-X001 is somewhat different in it's design, I was worried that it might not fit.

I guess I'll go that route then.

I have the IDA-X001 along with Modifry's wired DCI and his PnP adaptor for Alpine. No splicing of wires needed, just plug everything together. It's stupidly simple...

Here's a long thread discussing the head unit:

I just installed a CDA-9883 in my S2K and the door closes. The one thing is that it is best to push it closed on the passenger's side so it does not stress the volume knob of the head unit.

I just installed a Kenwood mp5032 with the motorized face. The unit fit perfectly and there are no clearance issues with the face folding down. Interestingly, the holes in the triangular brackets that get reused from the factory HU lined up perfectly with the mounting holes in the Kenwood. By the way, I know you prefer Alpine but check out the Kenwood Excelon decks. I really feel they can go head to head with an Alpine HU.
