to the Passport Escort 9500ix. Has anyone made the switch? The reason is because the V1 gives off too many false alerts even on advanced logic mode (L).

I have a 9500ix and prefer it to the V1. Yes you lose the arrows, but if the thing is blaring Ka at me, I'm gonna slow down regardless. After 3 false alerts (and you tell it to), it will log the location and frequency of that band and mute it from that point forward. Depending on your location, the speed camera feature is nice as well.

If you drive pretty much the same route every day, the 9500ix is amazing. If you're in a new place all the time and don't really have a consistent pattern, not sure how much it'll do for you.

I recommend it and say do it, but it all comes down to if it's applicable to you and if you have the necessary funds.

I do drive the same route everyday. I would love to get the 9500ix to get rid of false alerts. Currently bidding on one on eBay and need to get rid of my current Valentine radar.

I have had both, first the v1, and now the 9500xi. I do miss my v1 sometimes, I think the 9500 works better with the s2000. The v1 has 2 radar antennas, for front and rear radar detection. I get a pretty limited view out my back window, Which may or may not hinder its ability.

Over all, its much quieter, I'd make the switch for the GPS tagging feature alone.

The 9500ix is probably a good choice then. Escort gives you 30 days to return for refund, IIRC. Take it for a spin and see for yourself.

Truelock won't help much but features such as speed based filtering and the Trinity DB can still be useful.

Radar isn't visible light. The small window is irrelevant except for laser but laser detection is fairly pointless anyway. What makes you think the 9500 works better in the S? The window comment?

^ This. There's a bit of subjective preference involved in selecting a radar detector. No model is one-size-fits-all. I personally prefer the V1. YMMV.

How is the rear detection on the 9500ix? Obviously the V1 rear detection is superior due to two antennaes. The 9500ix also offers 360 degrees of protection but would like to hear from owners.

Again, you'll have a better pool of people to refer to if you use a countermeasures discussion forum rather than this subforum. I strongly suggest RadarDetector.net.

It honestly depends on where you live. However, the latest news is, cops monitor radar boards, and hide in well known false alarm locations. This was my main beef with the escort line the whole time...all the advantages you have with it are quickly lost when the cops get a wiff of it, and now they already do. I have the v1, and would never think of switching to anything else. The arrows saved me more than once, where a regular radar would have gotten me ticketed. Arrows till death.

If you tested side-by-side then it's not a valid test. RD units will interfere with each other.
