heres the deal, i have an 8" jl sub mounted in the footwell on my passenger side (came with the car). It beats but I want more it is powered by a 350w alpine v12 amp and i was thinking about redoing everything. Im considering two different sized subs in the trunk to hit all the different looowwwwssss. to get more bass can i just go to a higher wattage amp?? what is the cheapest way for me to get some more bass?!

thanks,
Frank

We'll see if opinions vary but I'd keep that 8" for tight bass and add the biggest single woofer I could fit in the rear (15" in a custom box?), with another amp, for more boom. Can't recommend any particulars since I've never wanted more than tight bass.

www.stereointegrity.com

Pick yourself up a 12" SI Mag, $250 shipped. 6.5" mounting depth, 1cu ft rec sealed enclosure (perfect for the trunk well).

Drop that 350W to it, you'll have plenty of bass. Later upgrade to 500+ to get even more out of it (it's 1000W capable)

(as an aside, the size of a subwoofer's cone does not determine the "tightness" of the bass as much as the frequency. If you want tight bass, invest in a quality subwoofer/amplifier combo and tune it to reproduce a "tighter" sound by adjust the amplified frequencies...)

Pick up a new amp for the 12"...

If you go with the SI Mag, anything around 500W is plenty (or so the reviews all say). I'll be using a JL 500/1v2 for mine because I bought it before learning of Sundown/US Amps (when the sub finally arrives in a few more weeks). But there are plenty of less expensive, high quality output amplifiers out there. Check out Sundown, US Amps, older Eclipse DA series (if you can find them...)

Ok...how tall are you?

I have my amps mounted behind the driver/passenger seats. You can do the gas tank mount, or pull the spare and mount in the spare area as other options.

You'll not need dynamat, but you should adjust the trunk latch for a tighter fit so it won't rattle as much. But then, I'm not a fan of dynamat in the S anyway (it's a lot of extra weight in a convertible...)

my amp right now is mounted in the dip in the trunk, under the little piece you can lift up. Im only like 5'9" but i dont really wanted mounted behind the seat. my dad likes to drive the car, just stuff like that
