help needed . i know pretty much NOTHING about audio. i know, i should've learned first, but i prefer to learn from my mistakes . i was told by someone that the two amps below would be perfect for my setup. i thought he knew audio but i'm being told now that he's wrong. if you can help, please tell me how i can make this setup work, and if the two amps listed don't make sense, what should i sell them and buy? i prefer not to use my headunit to power anything, but if it's a MUST i have it listed here. also, i prefer to use JL Audio amps, 'cause i'm stupid like that. here's what i've got:

Premier - DEH-P940MP - headunit

Diamond Audio Technology - Hex S600s in Lucid Adapters for door speakers & Rocky Rico A-pillar Tweeter Pods

JL Audio - XR400-CX in Lucid Rear Panels

(2) JL Audio - 8w3v2 in WLAURENT Enclosures

JL Audio - Slash Series 300/4 - amp #1

JL Audio - Slash Series 500/5 - amp #2

DJ Qube - Audio Control too

my amp(s) will be mounted onto the floor of the trunk (middle bottom). i've got two honda cargo nets ontop of where they're gonna go, just in case anything does fall over onto them. i also have two wlaurent enclosures that the two 8w3v2s will go into. thanks guys, and please help if possible .

do you already have the amps? Please say no. lol You don't want the 500/5, you want the 500/1. Seeing you already have the 4ch. of power, you don't need MORE do you? Plus, 250w for 2 8w3's is decent, 500w would be better.

yeah, i bought the 500/5 first, and was told it wasn't enough for everything. i just want it to sound good...am i asking too much here? would my 300/4 & a 250/1 work better? or should i just keep the 300/4 and get a 500/1? either way i've gotta sell the 500/5 now, right?

hrm...

i need to think about this a bit more and work on some numbers. clearly you have more amp than you need. the 500/5 might be a bit wasted...

i'll keep this thread up w/ the hope that i'll have some time towards the end of the day to work on it.

I would set everything up and first power the whole system with the 500/5 amp and see if it meets your sound requirements. However, if it doesn't meet your requirements unplug the 500/5 and plug in the 300/4 for your front and rear speakers. Sell the 500/5 which you should not have a problem doing, and with the money you get buy a JL 500/1 for the subs, but since you have to do all the wiring anyways try it, you might like it with just the 500/5. If you do then you can sell the 300/4 and with the left over money buy some more goodies for your car.

I ran the following with the 500/5.

165W Focal Utopias (front)
Boston Acoustic RX 47 (rear) in panels behind seats
2 wlaurent enclosures with JL 8W3v2

Since the rears are strickly for fill they don't need a ton of power.

that's the way i wanted to do it at first, but the more i think about it, the less time i want to have installing. i just want to do it once, and have it right the first time.

if i didn't have any amp at all, what JL Audio amp would you guys recommend?

The soundstream one.

j/k If you like JL, 500.5 should be enough for you.
