Ignition Key cylinder
Not 100% sure if Electronics is the right location for this, but here goes.
Has anyone ever replaced or had repaired their ignition lock cylinder? My searches here and on the general web have been fruitless.
My key has worn down to the point that it would no longer turn the lock cylinder with any reliability. I was able to remove the entire lock assembly by removing the lower steering column cover and a few simple screws. I took the cylinder to a local locksmith who was able to repair it and create a new key. However, once I re-assembled the entire thing, I was able to only turn the key from position zero (inserting and removing key) to the accessory (First position) and then to the Run position, but not to the final position to engage the starter. I AM able to insert a flat blade screwdriver into the (empty) cylinder housing that stayed in the car and turn the back side where the lock is supposed to go to all the positions, including the 'Start' with no resistance or issues at all, so I'm 99% sure that the issue is with my installation, but for the life of me, I've un-assembled and re-assembled the entire thing 3 or 4 times now with the same issue. I AM able to get it to turn all the way to the START position If I don't insert the cylinder all the way into the assembly, but then the covers (key in car sensor and ignition lockout) won't go into place properly.
I don't have photos currently, but can add some later on tonight. In the mean time, the closest thing that I can find to the part that I'm talking about is this photo of a CRV cylinder. http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/3...-b-font-08.jpg

I think I shouldn't have eaten so many paint chips as a toddler...
Now that I think of it, there's a damn good reason that the key doesn't turn to the 'engage starter position'... there's a big red button for that.
Leaving this post here because someone else will invariably be as dumb as me. Will update tonight if there is still an issue.
