Can anyone tell me how much better (if any) the 63.1i's are. If anyone has heard both, I would appreciate the input. Also, how much bass can I expect out of these little guys? Thanks.

Im using the 2-way 62.1i speakers in my car and prefer them to the 3-way 63.1i model.

The speakers sounded much better than stock when driven by the factory radio, and now are vastly better since adding a 35w/channel amp. You'll probably want to add an amp regardless of which speaker you get as it really added to the tightness of the bass. They will not produce the intestine-disturbing vibrations of a sub-woofer, but they sound great to me.

The only way to really know which speaker is right for you is to listen to each speaker and decide what appeals to your ear the most.

Not too much bass unless you replace the head unit or add an amp. The stock head unit is only like 22 watts a channel.

Utah,

I think you are being WAY too generous with the stock unit specs The stock spekaers are only rated at 15W, and most aftermarket decks only put out around 18-22W RMS. I'll take a WAG here and say the stock unit is closer to 10-15W (probably closer to 10), but the advice still holds...junk/upgrade the stock unit.

I got the 63.1i and LOVE them. I'm glad that I spent the extra money for them. Although the 62.1i are good (my friend has it install in his Civic), my 63.1i has awesome range including lots of midrange.

Crutchfield currently has 63.1i for a special price $140!!!!

The next best thing are either MBQ's or component speakers.

I looked up the specs on your 63.1i speakers. I saw the depth was 2-9/16. How was the clearance, did you have to take out the speaker basket or modify it. I am looking at the Kappa 60.2cs which are not as deep, 2-7/16 and would like any info you might have or pictures. Thanks in advance

The OEM basket will need to be cut so make sure you have the proper tools to cut it.

Once you have the speakers installed, you'll love them.

You might not even need an amp. I got the whole deal as a package - I haven't installed the amp but very happy with the new speakers.
