I'm still trying to decide what to do for a sub/enclosure to complete my system. I had been leaning toward an 8" sub in a Wlaurent enclosure, but now I am considering a 10" in the tool well.

I was shopping for various RF subs, but then I found a great price on a Perfect 10.1 d ($99) and it looks too good to pass up. My amp will put out 400WRMS @ 2 ohms. The perfect is rated at 350. This should be a good match, right?

The easy part is buying the driver. Next is getting the right enclosure. I'm finding that if I want a decent box at a reasonable price I'll have to build it myself. I've seen the plans for MDF boxes, but I think for best use of space, fiberglass may be the way to go, although I've never done it before. If anyone has some recommendations to share, I'd appreciate it. I want a removable box that leaves me with as much trunk space as possible. My main question is how to size it to get the proper volume (looks like the Perfect wants 0.6 cu. ft.).

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

looks like your amp to sub match is good. both power and impedences look like a proper match.

one way to get your size is to use a filler (like packing peanuts) to estimate your volume and rough out how deep the tool well enclosure would have to be. fill up the tool well, then make some adjustments for the thickness of your fiberglass and top.

if you know 3 dimensional calculus, you could use parabolic curves to model the well and then calc volume from there... but i suspect i'm probably one of the few geeks in here who would actually do that...

and yes -- that should be pretty good. as long as you don't aim too tight to the small or large enclosure recommendation...

Hmmm...NFRs2000NYC always seems to have opinions on Infinity equipment and always knows where the best deals are for electronics.

Feel free to chime in Dave...is this the best sub I can get for $100??

Thanks!

Booo Yaaaaaa.....

The perfects are very very nice subs. They are clean, provide crisp bass without the ghetto "bass aftertaste" as I call it.

Do you want a DVC or SVC???

http://thewholesalematrix.zoovy.com/produc...1?meta=dealtime

$94.95 for the 10.1D

As for fiberglass.....if you want to do it yourself,

www.selectproducts.com

They have a new special kind of "carpet" looking thing, that you just wrap around your skeleton, and secure it (staples) and when resin is applied to it, it turns to plastic. Saves HOURS, if not days on labor.

Anything else bud?
