I remember seeing and reading a post like this but i cant find it again. I have searched but havent come up with an answer. Anyway, i got a Alpine head unit, trying to get some Infinity Reference 6012i speakers. But i want to know if they drop in or would i have to get Lucids adaptor with it.

Thanks,
Tony Yeung

I fit a set of Kappa Components in the front door with the parts and hardware supplied in the box from Infinity.

Tony, I don't have the exact model of 6.5 I put in (I can't find the book) but they are 6.5's and they are Infinity Reference Series and I had to take a pair of snips and trim out the black plastic basket surrounding the magnet but after that, they screwed right in with no adapter.

Hope this helps.

I had to do that too... magnets were too big to fit without some modifications.

perfect timing guys

I just got back from the audio shop and favoured the 6512si speakers and have just logged on to check - here the thread is at the top

Looks like my Q has been answered. they are likely to fit - just some clipping to the plastic - I assume enough clearance from the window then.

How have you guys got on with them? happy with your choice?

Thanks
Nick

Having only had either stock BOSE or infinity.. It's hard to juge whether another choice would have produced better sound. I would say that overall I'm pretty happy with em but I was used to hearing those crappy OEMs.

If your looking for just good quality sound, these will be great for you. If your putting one of those 'I can hear you coming a block away' deals in, you might want to shop in a higher price bracket. Just my opinion.
