Installed new speakers... ouch
a/d/s 336im and a/d/s 334im seems like a great combo.
My local stereo shop wants to sell me MB Quartz RKC 116 (6 1/2 inch) and RKC 114 (4 inch) and, all other things being equal, I'd like to give them my business. This looks like a two-way system, but sound, not number of components, is the goal.
I'd consider Polk and Focal too. I do want to stick with the Alpine head (27 watts x 4 rms) for now, if I can.

As your both aware I have the XR-600's in the front (standard bridged wire...never tried what you guys did
...still curious about it?). Anyway I have a Piuoneer PEH-P730 head unit (claimed 50WX4). In the back I pulled an install trick from a Porsche I did many years ago when I worked at a place called Hear No Evil. I ordered a 4" Infinity Kappa Component System (40.2CS-149.95 from Crutchfield). The magnets are large and the fit is VERY tight! I ran the tweeters to the center console next to the ear...don't know what I was thinking? Sounded good but needed something more. I tried crossing the tweeters at the crossovers...better....but not fully up to par. I then ordered a second set of tweeters; Infinity 10.2t's (Crutchfield 99.95). Put these in the rear quarters directly across from the others. Wired them into the crossovers on the side they are located. So in short one pair is wired to the side it belongs and the inner two are crossed at the cross-overs. As I said I did this same install many years ago after a lot of experimenting. So 25 years later, after a lot of experimenting, I came up with the same answer to the same problem....kinda funny. The sound is awesome IMHO. Hopefully Yellow S2000 will be over tomorrow to take some pics for the board.

I was hoping you would jump in Utah S2K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you have trouble with the xr600s being too distorted at high volumes?
Thanks for your post. Please do post pics.
By the way, don't bother with the "bi-amp" setup for the xr600s. I'm glad I did it for the experience, but I don't think it added a thing. Theoretically you could use the head more efficiently (if you didn't have rear speakers) since you'd use half the amp's power for the tweeters and half for the midrange. Actually, due to the design of the xr600s, the majority of the power goes to the midrange with the bridged wiring.
I don't think I gained a thing. I'll be reverting to the non-bi-amp setup with the stock wiring when I get few minutes to pull the doors apart.
Then I'll use the rear speaker leads to drive rear speakers.

I guess your speaking to me? Or maybe Barry...
I know what you mean... but I REALLY dont want to use my trunk for speakers... the spare is find... but I like to go on trips and need the trunk... Plus I keep all my sportting equipment in the trunk for those spur of the moment games...
All my old systems had subs... So I'm very used to having that nice mellow bass in the back.
Jerry, do you think bass shakers would work? Have you tried them??
Thanks!
