Default Installed XTC Acoustic Baffles (pics)

Last week I discovered some water in my door after washing my car when I removed one of my front speakers. The speaker was very wet. Here's a link if you're interested:

Just as a precaution, I ordered XTC Acoustic Foam Baffles from Crutchfield ($8.99) and installed them last night. Thety really look like they'ss get the job done. Supposedly they help improve SQ but I noticed no difference after the install.

I was hoping to take photos once they were on the door but my camera ran out of juice. I'll snap some next time the door panels are off (seems to be a once/week occurance.)

Seems like a decent product if water is somthing you're worried about. I've never actually seen the stock baskets uncut. Do they have a sealed back to prevent water intrusion?

Are these the deep ones or the shallow ones?

They are the shallow ones. The link is below. I was surprised that these were the right ones for me b/c they are the 6 3/4 and my Kickers (which claim to be 6.5") are closer to 6.25" The depth was perfect.

I'm using these baffles but my installer had to remove the backs to eliminate acoustical problems. It seems that when the baffles fully enclosed the speakers, they did not sound as good as without the backs. I was not there to hear the difference myself but it makes sense.

I still have some rain protection but not as much as I'd like to have.

That is true because volume behind the speaker is too small. If your going to use them fill them with acoustical batting.

Weird...these baffles are supposed to be sonically transparent--like grill cloth

Too bad I wasn't there to hear it myself. I'll ask my installer for more information and let you know what he says.

I've had ice freeze on my speakers twice now. So I should have these in within the next few weeks.

I plan to cut out the bottom to vent rather than cutting the back off.

Ajjra: Do you know if the water was only coming in from the top?
