or the 9833? my 02 is stock right now.

they both have built in amps. i was thinking of sometime in the future upgrading to some $100 or less door speakers. I'm looking for clarity, especially with the top down.

also, since you're already looking, would a kenwood HU be better for the music keg then an alpine? the $300-400 kenwood HU's are all motorized, should i be worried?

thanks.

Not only is it NOT a waste, its a step in the right direction. Go for it.

And no, Kenwood isnt better than Alpine in any way....just get an MP3 capable headunit, and if thats not enough, get the 6 disc mp3 changer (1/3rd of the price of the Keg) and youre set!

Just installed a 9835 in my 01' and its a huge difference in just the power alone. It has way more options than I care to list but I figure its a good starting point to building the rest of the system.

Short answer:
kinda waste / sort of an improvement.

Long answer:
Currently i've got a 9833 with stock speakers in my '04. It sounds better. This is my start to an outrageous set up.

Get the great HU but plan on buying efficient components in the near future. The Infinity Reference series are good as are the Alpine type S.

Basically any speakers you like that don't need much power and have a high efficiency rating will work. Of course you could always get an amp.... and better speakers.. and a sub.....

ive already got the Music Keg.

So would an alpine unit still be better for the keg than a kenwood? i just want to be able to navigate through the music easily.

also, is there a significant difference between the 9833 and 9835 w/ my set up?

From what i know, the keg only works with Kenwood. The 9835 has pretty graphics / only difference.

Yes, technically it will work, but anything that is connected via a FM modulator will sound like crap.

(Crap may be a little harsh, but it will have the sound quality of FM radio rather than CD)

If you are building a quality system with the KEG as your source for tunes, with the modulator you will never get the best sound quality even if you buy the best speakers, amp and HU.
