Default iphone 3G car charger

I've been thru 2 'iphone' cell phone chargers for the car from meritline.com in the past week.

Iphone 3g keeps saying 'charging not supported on this accessory' every time i plug in.

After some research, i discovered that all of apples products that use the Ipod connector can charge with either Firewire (12v) OR USB (5v)... up until the 3G, which no longer supports firewire, which most car chargers use (since its already 12v).

Question is... do any of you 3G owners know of a 12v car charger that will charge the 3G? If so, link me to where you bought it! Thanks in advance.

The one i use is:

Works perfect and its the only 3G charger on the market that is "iPhone 3G certified".

Hmm, I haven't purchased a different Radio Shack "iGo AutoPower" tip for my 3G yet (just got it yesterday!) but that's what I'll be trying since I have it. If it fails I'll post again.

Friend of mine is using that with his 3Ger. If you are using a dock connector to your radio you can plug it into the bottom of that guy.

I just bought an ac charger from eBay for five dollars and used the supplied USB cable to connect the phone to the charger. Make sure your car is running because my won't charge unless the engine is running. For a second I thought I had he same problem as you till I starts up my car. Good luck.

Yep, get the Griffin. It's overkill and expensive but works perfectly. With Apple you gotta pay to play.
