iPod install on the visor?
Do you guys think it would be a good idea to install the iPod on the visor?
I figure this way it's easier to control the unit as well as having the easy access.
I want to route the belkin dock cigarette plug wire through the driver's side pillar and pull it out through where the convertible latch is.
And using a wallet clip, I'll be able to set the ipod on the visor.
Do you guys think this will work?

It's an easy steal on the visor, so make sure you never leave it up there, but I think it could work. I've seen them mounted in the center console, which was pretty cool.
If you can wait until this summer, Alpine HUs with Ai net will be able to integrate completely with a stealthly hidden ipod. You will have song and file names displayed on your headunit. I'll probably put my ipod hidden in the trunk.
The belkin uses a 3.5 mm to RCA, not the best for soundquality either. I think the Alpines will connect via the firewire port, so you will have less wires and better sound.

I used the stock HU with the Blitzsafe AUX interface (no goofy ground switch required when using vehicle power). This converts the CD changer input to RCA. I then used a RCA to 3.5MM cable. Ran the cable under the console and popped up at the rear of the parking brake. Then I used a Marsware Convertible iPod case. Made a "sleeve" out of some neoprene roll bar wrap that allows me to slide the iPod onto the parking brake handle. Very slick and portable. I did the same to my Civic SI and can swap the iPod back and forth with zero effort.
Other benefits are that the iPod can rotate on the brake handle so it's easy for me to see or a passenger to operate. When I park I just toss a hat over the handle/ipod...nobody's the wiser. When not in place the 3.5mm cable slides back down so all that is exposed is the plug. (I fabricated a little retainer out of a wire tie so the plug end doesn't fall back under the console and stays put). The bottom of the ipod is also "aimed" right at the cigarette lighter if you ever need to use the car's juice to run it.
No binding of the parking brake. No binding with drink holder door. No rattle, shake, and it's eary to reach/see. Best of all no drilling !!!!!!
