Default iPod solution (e.g. iCruze) for AP2?

I didn't realize there was a difference with the head unit between the AP1 and AP2, however I became suspicious when I went to Monster's iCruze page to see if I needed a different harness for my iCruze (which I never got around to installing in my current Honda), and in the pulldown menu for Honda, while the S2000 was listed at the bottom, "00-03" was the prefix. Has anyone attempted to plug in an iCruze to an AP2, or, I guess, any 04-06 S? I'm not hot about the integration kit unless I can actually see track titles, and I figured I'd hold onto the iCruze because I have the display for it as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you did at least read that thread before promptly posting a link to it here, right? It doesn't answer my question; in fact, the car rworne is installing the iCruze in is an '01. It's a good thing I wasn't as hasty to apologize for not searching as you were in posting that link

I don't have the car yet, but will in a few weeks. What I don't want is to have to pull the radio and whatever else is necessary only to find that for some reason or another, it will not work on 04-06's.

How about a solution to my question? Lol

The price of the D&P isn't as bad as I anticipated, but regardless, I already have the iCruze, hence my desire to find out if it will work on later MY S2000's.

The H-K D&P's controller is wired into the control unit, which means it's fixed, and ideally you'd want it somewhere accessible while driving, right? My problem with that is parking with the top down and having extra gadgets easily visible, perhaps I'm just not a very trusting person I suppose it's a weak argument anyway, considering the display for the iCruze would still be visible (lol, there really isn't a place to hide it in this car, is there?!)

What I like about the iCruze is that you can control the tunes through your factory buttons/switches/knobs etc., and while I'm aware of the limitations with this unit compared to the D&P, what it all comes down to is the fact that I already own the iCruze ... and of course, the question that started this thread

It doesn't seem like you're getting the answer you're looking for. I would just like to throw out the suggestion that you contact Monster. It's their product. So, hopefully they know.

Also, I believe the radio in the AP2 is a different one from the radio in an AP1.

I started to get that impression after only the first reply, so at that point I sent an inquiry to Monster ... but thank you for at least trying to provide a useful response (that, and for the radio bit)

I'll post whatever Monster says, if in fact Monster says anything at all.

iCruze: meet eBay. It turns out that no, the '06 S2000's radio will not support iCruze, this from the response I received from Martin @ Monster:

"Unfortunately, iCruze is not compatible with 2006 Honda. At this time, we have no definitive plans to add an interface for your vehicle."

Oh well, perhaps it's time to consider a compatible M-Bus Alpine unit or the Harmon Kardon kit ... I guess I was just hoping to retain the use of the left side audio controls.

You didn't read the rest of my saga... (and my car is an '03)

My post was about the quality of the iCruze (pretty good) and the software/firmware in the iCruze (pretty buggy).

Monster wound up buying my unit back from me and I used the cash to get a Dension Icelink.

There's two ways iPod controls go, integrated like iCuze, Icelink, Alpine and Pioneer, or remote-based like the Harmon Kardon. The HK kit does not have to translate CD changer controls at all, so it SHOULD be a more bulletproof solution. I haven't heard many complaints about the 2006 Alpine models either.

The Icelink is about 98-99% perfect. It works quite well and only glitches now and then by skipping an extra track or rebooting the iPod. I can live with the Icelink and they support S2000's after 00-03 (dunno about '06).

Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between the 00-03 factory headunits and the 04-05/06 ones? How are they different?

I'm going to take some pictures of the one I have in my car and see if anyone has an answer

In case this query sounded odd, here in UAE, we have the AP1 and AP1.5 (which is effectively an AP2 with the F20C engine instead of the F22) -- as such, I have no idea whether my car comes with the AP1 headunit or the AP2's.

I'd kill for iCruze -- running iTrip at speeds above 60 mph seems to introduce a ton of static, rendering the setup useless
