I recently purchased the usa spec ipod adapter from crutchfield. I Installed but I have no place to mount it, it's temporarily in the side netting. Anyone have any ideas.

 

I got longer cables, mounted the "brain" behind the vented panel behind the passenger seat. Then ran the cable for the iPod to the center console/glovebox thing.

There might be some room under the center console if your cables aren't too short. You would need to get it under the armrest though, as the cup holder will fill the bulk of the area that is open and easy to access there.

 

Brain is under the deck and the ipod is velcroed under the pass dash

 

I'm looking for a way to.....

1. Click or mount my 3rd gen Nano to my Panavise universal mount. In the past I've used the same mount to hold my cell phone and I just modified the belt clip. Now the I-Pod comes with nothing.....no case, no belt clip....nada.

B. Connect the I-Pod to my OEM AP2 head unit. I've seen some references here to a high quality (i.e.$90) hardwired adapter which is fine. However if there are other (less $$) options I'd love to hear them.

Ideally I would like to direct connect the I-Pod Nano to the back of the head unit and have it charge at the same time.

Help a brother out!!! (Please)

check my post about ipod conncetion with the oem head unit last week. it cost me $180 including labor and it charges the ipod and the volume/mute buttons still works.

i'll see whether i can bring it back from from the back page deaths .

 

i had cord go through the micro-glove box on the 06-AP2. you can't see it unless you bend your head down and i've got about 2.5' of cord to play with. during our road trip to LA last weekend the wife was playing games on the pod while listening to music.

 

Cool, but I can't believe how much it is gonna cost to hook the darn thing up to my stereo. Granted there are less expensive ways like broadcasting over a channel on the radio....but those suck.

I wanna do it right and have it charge at the same time.......but this is gonna costs as much as Ipaid for the I-pod itself. Seems a little rediculous, and I just said the same thing to a local stereo guy/shop yesterday.

I'll take all the info I can and scrape some money together for when I'm ready.

BTW, I love this new Nano!!!!

 

you could buy the product and install it yourself with the proper tools and that should save you half the price.

 

I can take pics tonight dude....i actually did this install about a week and a half ago....drilled the holes under the passenger dash (where the foam is on the left hand side of the passenger dash)...mount that box on there and run the wires through the back...very efficient....oh and the ipod wire run's accross the headunit (before the radio door is installed)...just runs accross and through the other side....i tuck the ipod right between my seat and the center console carpet...the wire has more than enough slack....pm me to remind me to take pics dude i'd be more than happy to

Box fits behind the CD player, installs in about 5 minutes and you don't need to cut anything.

They make models for older headunits as well. Volume and Mute controls work with the iPod, you manually control songs from the iPod itself though.
