Buying over the internet usually equals no warrenty and bad service when you ask a local retailer to install for you. They don't like it when you do that. Go to you're local store, give them your money, and tell them to make it sound as good as possible for that amount of money. Ask a salesperson or an installer what they buy if they had your money. A salesperson from a specialty retailer researched alot more than you can in a couple of weeks. Make sure you qualify the guy to see if he actually knows what he's talking about. When something breaks, and it will, they will fix it for you.

That's what I was afraid of. There are some stuff that I was planning to buy off of the internet and then have a local shop install them, but I've heard that they're not too keen on that idea.

Here's my tentative plan if I were to buy from internet shops.
CDT Classic 6.5 components - $150
Blaupunkt PA4100 amp - $300
Wlaurent's enclosure + RF HE2 8" woofer - $250
Total in parts: $700

Here's one from a local shop A.
JL Audio XR650CSI 6.5 components - $379
JL Audio 450/4 amp -$700
JL Audio stealthbox - $550
Total in parts: $1629

And another shop B.
MB Quart PSD216 6.5 components - $500
PPI 440 amp - $300
JL Audio 8W0 in custom enclosure $200
Total in parts: $1000

So, I was thinking about going to shop B, but I'm spending more to get a lesser system. Sigh... I wish I knew how to install this stuff myself.

I brought my internet prices to the installer and they agreed to match the "price + shipping". The only thing I didnot get a great deal was the stealthbox at $500. They matched the prices from
www.woofersetc.com
www.infinitecaraudio.com
www.etronics.com

Whichever was best.

I had a similiar dilema, I bought all my equipment online and it was a bitch trying to find a shop to install it. When I finally did they totally fubared everything and overcharged me.

I think when I get my S, I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy the equipment at the installers.

I'm sorry to hear that. I think I'll try a compromise. I'm taking my car to Earmark this weekend for an alarm installation. When I was talking to the salesguy yesterday, I told him that I had a headunit and component speakers and that I was "searching" for an amp and possibly a sub (if I decide to get Wlaurent's box). He seemed more than happy to recommend a JL Audio amp and sub to go with what I already have and didn't have any problems installing the entire system. I'm hoping that everything will go smoothly, but from what he told me, he's had several satisfied S2000 owners.

I had the same problem. I ended up putting a 10' sub in the back and putting a new alpine unit in... of coarse with an amp for the Sub. Never been happier. The better power that the alpine puts to the fronts makes them sounds alot better try that out. It might be the easiest way to do what your looking to,

Unfortunately, unless I'm mistaken, there aren't any authorized online JL audio dealers. Or are there? Sure, I can find lower prices on JL equipment at numerous sites, but I don't think a local authorized shop will match internet prices from unauthorized sites. Eh, I'll give it a try and see if they'll work with me. Thanks for the inputs everyone.
