Ordered the JDM navi brackets and screws - just got them today and I think the brackets will work but they have little dimples in them I'm guessing to help align them on the OEM navi units. Those don't fit on this Alpine ILX-407 head unit I'm going to use so I'll probably have to dremel them off so the brackets can sit flush - but the screw holes lined up perfectly and the OEM screws fit as well.
Now that it can mount correctly I should be able to get everything wired up and just need to sort out the bezel situation. 3D scan/print shop nearby is still waiting for me to bring the bezel by for a scan before they recommended I try just reshaping the Honda bezel with a heat gun and if that doesn't work they'll print me a mirrored version out of high-temp plastic.
Thing is this might stick out farther than the OEM nav unit just from this picture I found of someone selling it:
Finally got around to installing the deck yesterday. For the 2 brackets I just dremelled off a little alignment bump they had so they could be flush against the head unit.
With this particular Alpine HU, both the remote controls connector and USB connector were sticking out too far for the deck to fit in flush so I had to open up the hole in the dash mounting plastic cage thing. The clean way would have been with a dremel but I was too lazy to find a long extension cord to reach out to the car so I just used some pliers and broke the plastic by bending it a bit. Can't see back there with the deck (and hopefully soon bezel) installed anway.
Since I used the KTA 450 amp I had to stick it somewhere and ended up using the factory radio space for that and the giant cluster of wiring harness. Sort of glad I couldn't find a blank single DIN storage box that would fit now because with the amp and all the wiring it filled up the whole compartment
For power I really didn't want to run something through the firewall just for a 15 amp draw, so I fished a wire under the dash to the fuse box and just plugged it with a spade connector into the middle spare power blade which is +12v always on. I think the other 2 are +12v ignition on, and lighting (which that one I'm guessing is used for the 20th Anniversary footwell light kit which I'm going to install later today).
The parking brake wire I just fished down through the center console along where the factory wiring harness that runs alongside the shifter goes and shoved some bare wire into the parking brake's blade/spade connection. If someone makes some sort of blade splitter connector I'll likely go back in there and use that for less ghetto-ness but it's quite pinched in place so functionally seems fine.
Still searching for a small camera that can be mounted both in the front bumper and rear bumper (from up above the license plate) but overall super happy to have this thing in the dash. It's SO nice having a big touch screen and navigation right there - was so jealous of Japanese S2k owners for all these years since they had optional factory navigation from the get-go.
Very nice. I have the same unit in my S2000. Any good generic camera will work. I have both front & rear cameras. Also, if you're using Android phone, I recommend the little AAwireless for wireless android auto. I have to wait like 6 months for that piece but loving it without the cord.
BTW, get the little screen lock bypass as well...forgot that it's called.. LOL

thanks! didn't even know that sort of adapter existed so that will be awesome!
Where do you put your phone? For now I've just been USBing it and setting it on front of the radio door.
Since my phone now is wireless Android Auto, I can put it anywhere. I installed an empty radio pocket in the original S2000 radio slot and normally put the phone there. My amp (KTA450), I put it under the carpet on the passenger side.
oooh thanks, just grabbed it though it looks like it was just fixing something with subs. I need to properly go through setup on this thing anyway
Alpine pulled the firmware update due to problems with Apple CarPlay. So if you have iPhone, don't install the firmware until they release a new one (this one causes some echoing issues). I have Android so no problem...

ooh I'm Android for life - though if they had issues maybe I should still hold off since the update was supposedly just to fix stuff with subwoofers which I'll likely never have in the S2k...
