Thumbs up Kenwood X-693

Okay guys, I'm totally frustrated. I have my new killer stereo all installed and am ready to finish my upgrade but I'm stuck trying to get my DCI to work. Bob has sent me two now. I used his wiring harness and there's no way it can be hooked up wrong. I have the dip switches set correctly and I got no dash controls except mute. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the DCI and my Kenwood X-693 HU aren't compatible. Just curious if anybody has used this combination. I'm getting desperate...hopefully someone can shed some light. Thanks for the help.

Are you getting no response from the dash controls at all, or just unexpected results? I had the same problem with my KDC-X891 and it turns out my dip switches were set incorrectly.

this is a long shot, but I have some memory of someone posting that
the dipswitch settings listed in the instruction sheet that came with his
DCI were incorrect (obsolete), but the ones posted on Modifry's site were
right, or maybe the other way around. In any event, if you haven't already,
compare both sets of instructions...

Valkdriver, did you install the HU and DCI yourself? I'm in Houston and am often in the Sugarland area. If you're still having problems with it at the end of this week get in touch with me and I'll try to carve out some time to take a look at it.

WOW! Finally a kindred spirit in the area. I've been looking for you man. Yes I installed everything. I went all Kenwood Excelon after some moderate research.
X-693 HU, XR4S Amp, New door seperates, Darkside VII sub box w/ Kenwood 10" sub, and HD radio. Bob sent me another DCI and it did not work either. I got so frustrated, I put both DCI's and my wire harness in a box and sent it to him for forensic analysis. What a pain in butt this has become. My stereo works great...what little I've got to listen to but the DCI thing is killing me. I probably should have shoved it and done without dash controls but I paid for the DCI and wanted my dash controls to work. I used Bob's Honda adaptor with the leads included to connect the DCI. Shoulda been foolproof. Electronics is something I do grudgingly. I can do "some" but I don't like it and if things don't go well...I get pretty frustrated pretty fast. I was hoping someone out there had run my combination. Thank you very much for offering to help me. I'm dead in the water until I get my wire harness back and hopefully Bob will find something insignificant and critical and will correct my error and straighten me out. I will let you know if I don't get it running after that.
Thank You!

Ah ok, I've got a similar setup (KDC-X891 + Modifry DCI) so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out if your harness comes back from Bob without problems. Keep us posted!
