Default Kenwood X995

I have a kenwood X995 for my S2k, however, are there any other things that I need outside of the Modifry DCI? Any adapters, etc?

People here like the modifry piece but personally I use a PAC SWI-RC with my 995 and it works perfect.

Depends on what you're looking to do. Give us details. We're not psychic. Is the Kenwood already installed? If not, you'll need a wiring harness as well.

No programming, no delay, no strange install requirements like the older PAC SWI's with Modifry.

Oh, I still need to install it. Just wanted to know exactly what I need to get the job done.

DCI
HU
Wire harness from Modifry if you don't want to cut your stock wires. (recommended)

I prepped the harness with head unit by soldering the wires, and that probably took the bulk of my time, but after that the install was plug and play.

Let me know how you like this headunit. I got it, but realized after that I cant do audio over bluetooth.

I have the same unit and love it. Bluetooth audio streaming isnt a big issue for me though. I use ipod or listen to HD radio all the time. Streaming will be back in the Kenwood lineup for next year though.

You'll need a canopy over the HU to be able to read the display in direct sunlight.

Not if you switch the display to positive as compared to the default. I do it for my customers all the time as well on my own.

I just ordered the Kenwood KDC-X995 this afternoon along with Kenwood's iPod cable and their Sirius sat radio add-on. I've heard all the comments about glare and insufficient brightness from the display and I'm not too worried. The car it's being installed in has a chopped roof design w/o any sunroof. The side windows are really short and the hatch glass ends well behind the seats. And aside from the visibility concerns, this thing seems like a great value. It handles about every media known to mankind short of cassettes and LP records. Satellite radio, terrestrial HD radio, CD's & MP3's, iPod & Pandora, Bluetooth calling. And it appears to have pretty comprehensive setup features. I can't wait to upgrade from my current factory CD AM/FM unit. So, for those of you who already own the 995, how is it to live with? Menu navigation, buttons & knobs, reception, equalization curves, preamp output signal strength?

Screen is impossible to read. I am lagging on applying a anti-glare film over it.

I fooled around with the brightness and all. What do you mean when you say turn the display to positive?

Bluetooth quality is surprisingly decent with the top down going 40 mph. I have yet to try it at higher speeds.

Sound Quality is very good.

Menu navigation isn't as bad as everyone says it to be (in the garage, after you get used to it), but combined with the screen being so difficult to read, and driving, It is nearly impossible. I just memorize the order of button presses for common navigation.

Very feature packed for the price.

I am very happy with it.
