Hi,

I'm comtemplating getting a used S2000, and from what I understand, the 2000 and 2001 models lack the door tweeters that the later models have.

I read one thread, and it seems that they don't have any tweeters. Just wanted to confirm that that's the case.

And I was just curious if anyone had any pics of the doors of the 2000/2001 models.

I have an 02 but I'd just say this, don't worry about the lack of tweeters in older models. If you get a 2001/2002 car you can choose your own tweeter location and modify the stock door. The stock tweeter location is not so great for sound and the tweeter pods are ugly & big. There are better ways to add a tweeter to a 2001/2000 car. If you do a search you'll see that people have done a lot of creative mods for this purpose.

 

The MY02-03 have door mounted tweeters, and the MY00-01 don't. Also the MY02-03 has a stronger radio (20 v 30 watts) but again, many of us have replaced them too.

If I was you, get the car for reason other then the stock audio system. Generally they all suck with the top down, driving at speed. Only a good aftermarket installation will gives you something you can hear @ 80mhp.

The stock tweeters can only be heard if you put ur ear right next to them, and then it is very faint. I cut the grill out of my '02 pod and put in aftermarket tweeters. All the factory sound system is good for IMO is to put back in before selling/trading the car.

 

Nope...2000/2001 has no tweeters.

But if you care enough about sound to ask the question, you'd probably end up spending the money to upgrade the stereo system of whichever S you get...

Even the 2002/2003's system won't do anything for you at speed.
