Default Laser Speeding Ticket

Got pulled over for a laser speeding ticket (new to my county) this morning. 49mph in a 35 at a distance of 872 feet! Obviously my outdated cheap radar detector wasn't of much use.

Any suggestions on radar/laser detectors that won't take the place in my budget for a set of wheels?

My traffic lawyer has gotten the last 5 speeding tickets (over the last few years) all thrown out in court, but I've never encountered a laser ticket before. Their accuracy/range/reliability is kind of scary.
Has anyone had any luck or misfortune with fighting one before?

A detector is mostly useless with laser. It's basically just a ticket notifier. It is possible to detect scatter before you're targeted and it has happened to me twice but that's not something that you want to count on. Hit a countermeasures site to read up on appropriate solutions. I'd suggest radardetector.net.

No idea what your wheel budget is but laser protection isn't cheap. If you want to save money, cruise control might be your best bet.

ALL detectors are useless for laser. you can get a laser jammer. But they are expensive & illegal in some states.

If you get hit with the laser you're dead in the water. There's not much you can do about it.

get a laser jammer plus a good radar detector.

Laser jammers are awesome, the "you are going this fast" signs just come up blank. lol

regarding the laser jammers, if a LEO points his gun at you and it comes up jammed, wouldn't that be a good reason to pull you over for using an illegal jammer?
