XM is standard?!

 

I want one!

I take it these will be very desireable and expensive. I've been trying to find a clean way of hooking up XM using my stock deck, this looks to be the best option.

 

I don't think it's going to be "standard" I keep seeing "optional XM Radio" in a number of places. Although I'm very interested in this myself as I am on the brink of installing one of the add-on systems.

I doubt they'd actually include the tuner standard, but just have the display and connection capability in the HU is good enough.

 

The real crime.. Honda should have made it an MP3 player...

Took my '04 head unit out today to add the HON-AUX input for an IPOD. The MY04 unit now has a new 14 pin connector, prewired to a connector in the trunk for the OPTIONAL XM receiver. HON-AUX connector won't fit. Looks like I may have to get a new aftermarket receiver to get inputs!

 

Definitely NOT!

You need 3 parts from Honda costing from $400 to $700 depending where you purchase from. (receiver, cable, antenna)

I went with a Commander. Got one NIB from Ebay for $131 plus shipping.

I've been trying to work out the "factory solution" without paying factory prices...

If anyone figures out which manufacturer (Alpine?) makes the Honda XM receiver (optional; mounted in the trunk near the CD changer; available for about $400), let me know!

Alpine receivers (to mate with their "tuner/head unit") sell for about $100 at Circuit City. If I can find which unit mates with the 14-pin plug on the factory Honda harness, I'll be cookin' with gas...
